Academic Resource
Welcome to the TypeCulture Academic Resource - a directory, archive and educational aid for design students, educators and professionals who are seeking information about type; its history, manufacture, use and artistic significance.
I am pleased to offer this resource; I have long sought after a compendium of reliable information about type and typography for my students. While there are a number of good websites that contain a wealth of links, some of which are included here, the thoroughness and accuracy of other sources sometimes leave much to be desired. So I offer this as a reliable online resource for finding out more about type. From these modest beginnings, it will be expanded continuously into a broad-ranging collection of informative articles, essays, trustworthy links and teaching aids.
Initially, the formal emphasis will be on the latin script and its (primarily) Western history. I want to establish a firm foundation for it here before turning my attention to other scripts and cultures. I heartily welcome your contributions, corrections and constructive criticism.
